Cyber Safety Pasifika (CSP) took great pride in its contribution to the inaugural Cyber Smart Roadshow Sāmoa initiative, which successfully concluded earlier this week. We extend our gratitude to CERT NZ for recognising the significance of the Cyber Safety Programme as a pivotal component of this endeavour.

This groundbreaking initiative marked the first-ever collaborative effort involving multiple agencies, including MCIT, SamCERT, Ministry of Police, Prisons and Corrections Services, and the Office of the Regulator. Together, across three teams, we engaged with 12 colleges, 12 Parent Associations, and 12 churches across Savai’i.

Through this united collaboration, we reinforced essential cyber safety messages and equipped young individuals, educators, parents, and religious communities with valuable tools. The positive outcomes of this roadshow encompass a heightened understanding of cyber hygiene, awareness of police enforcement regulations, recognition of the perils of cyberbullying, and knowledge of where to seek assistance within Samoa.

Our final session, held yesterday, involved Sāmoan members of Parliament. The CSP Cyber Security Specialist, Enoka Feterika, contributed to this training by creating an impactful video that showcased shared parental experiences and captured feedback from young individuals and communities.

This combined effort, along with the comprehensive report compiled by SamCERT and CERT NZ, will play a crucial role in shaping the review of Samoa's cyber security strategy. It will further contribute to the establishment of innovative regulations and legal frameworks, thereby enhancing the nation's cyber capabilities.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to the two dedicated members of the Ministry of Police, Prisons and Corrections Services, Constable Taililigo Tinoifili, and Constable Peniamina Fa’amanatu, for their invaluable support throughout the Savai’i cyber roadshow.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to SamCERT for allowing Cyber Safety Pasifika the opportunity to be part of this significant and momentous event.
