Seconded Police Officers (SPOs) play a vital role in strengthening regional policing collaboration. By embedding experienced officers within the PICP Secretariat, the programme ensures member jurisdictions share expertise, build capacity, and deliver on the collective vision of Police Chiefs united for a secure Blue Pacific.

Since its inception in 2004, the SPO programme has been a cornerstone of the PICP’s work, providing opportunities for senior officers and emerging leaders from across the region to contribute directly to Secretariat operations. Through their secondments, SPOs provide strategic advice, lead key programmes, and represent PICP at regional forums, helping to amplify the voice of Chiefs and Commissioners on critical policing issues.

In 2025, the Secretariat was privileged to host secondees from the Samoa Police Service, Nauru Police Force, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Their contributions ranged from reviewing PICP's current Gender and Family Harm programme, strengthening the Women’s Advisory Network, and shaping strategic communications to supporting major conferences and regional engagement. Each officer demonstrated professionalism, commitment, and a shared passion for improving policing across the Pacific.

As their secondments conclude, the PICP and its Secretariat extends its heartfelt thanks to all who served this year. Their efforts have left a lasting impact on the Secretariat and the wider PICP family. Secretariat Executive Director Nic Brown wished all officers every success as they return to their home organisations and continue their leadership journeys.

Looking ahead to 2026, the SPO programme will continue to provide opportunities for member jurisdictions to contribute to the Secretariat’s work. Details on the number and duration of secondments will be shared in due course, and we look forward to welcoming the next group of secondees who will help drive regional policing forward.
